Outcome summary

A COVID-19 social cash transfer programme was delivered

Outcome achieved

A COVID-19 social cash transfer (CT) was successful delivered by the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI), between June and July 2020, to a total of 98 percent of all eligible households in Timor-Leste (approximately 313,456 families).

ILO's contribution to the outcome

With the support from the COVID-19 Multi Partner Joint Trust Fund, ILO led the development partners from the UN side and provided direct technical assistance throughout the design, implementation and evaluation of the COVID-19 social cash transfer (CT).

Gender equality & non-discrimination

The National Social Protection Strategy target different vulnerable groups, including women along their life cycle. Furthermore, one of the Priority Activities of the new National Social Protection Strategy involves the assessment of the impact of benefits on the most vulnerable groups (including women) and assess the adequacy of existing measures and opportunities to improve the social protection system efficiency.
