Building social protection floors for all
ILO Global Flagship Programme
"The day I receive my allowance, I am someone" says Regina
With access to old-age pensions, Regina has seen her life changed. She lives in a small village in Mozambique. In the past, she was relying on the charity of her neighbours, her friends. Since 2010 she benefits from the basic social protection subsidy. With this monthly allowance she can buy rice, sugar, salt and cover her transportation costs to the hospital. She can even take care of her grandson who lives with her. See full video
Social protection is something that most of us enjoy but often take for granted. Still, it remains a privilege for far too few.
Your donation will support the ILO’s Social Protection Floors Fund managed by the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF), a non-profit organization working for social change. Our partnership with KBF gives individuals, enterprises and foundations the opportunity to contribute to ILO’s Flagship Programme on Building Social Protection Floors for All. Up to 91.5% of each donation goes directly to support countries.
With your donation, the ILO will continue to support universal social protection by building capacities of governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, supporting national dialogues on social protection, improving the design of social protection schemes embedded in law, upgrading the administrative capacity required to reach people in need, and creating and sharing practical tools for countries to achieve universal social protection. For instance, the ILO is currently helping the government of Cambodia in expanding social health protection to all workers. This will have an impact on 1.1 million families in Cambodia.
