EU/ILO Workshop: Review and Valuation of the Employment and Social Protection Studies in Honduras

The Workshop on the "Review and Valuation of the Employment and Social Protection Studies in Honduras" took place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on September 5 and 6 of 2011 and was followed by the “Training workshop on the Diagnostic Tools for Social Protection Extension and Employment Promotion” on September 7 to 9 of 2011.

The objectives of the SPER are to identify the scope of social protection in terms of risks and needs covered as well as existing gaps; determine the expenses and their financing structures; and analyze the effectiveness of the performance of existing social protection schemes regarding their coverage. Both studies were achieved in the framework of the UE/ILO “Improving social protection and promoting employment” project. The findings will form the basis for the drafting of a proposal for a national policy integrating the goals of promoting employment and extending social protection. This drafting will take place in the subsequent stages of the project in 2012.
