2nd Seminar on social protection for Members of Hluttaw, Republic of the Union of Myanmar
On March 14th, 2015, FES, the ILO and the Committee on social development of Hluttaw (Parliament of Myanmar) organized a the second seminar for the Members of the Hluttaw (Parliament) on social protection. This time the half-day seminar focused on fiscal space creation in the global context as well as in Myanmar. Dr. Konrad Obermann, one of the leading international experts on social protection financing, presented different international models to create fiscal space for the extension of social protection (Presentation). An additional presentation was held by Lou Tessier, ILO Social Protection Technical Officer, on extending social protection in Myanmar: context and fiscal space analysis (Presentation).
FES and the ILO hope that this fruitful event will contribute to the decisions on the future model of Social Protection in Myanmar that the Members of the Hluttaw will have the chance to make in the near future.
