Outcome achieved

The Understanding addresses the coverage of Victims of the Rana Plaza Accident and their Families and Dependants due to work related accident and death extending coverage to injuries not covered so far under the Labour Act.

ILO's contribution to the outcome

Given that the compensation amounts provided for under the Labour Act are relatively small and do not meet the standards of the ILO’s Employment Injury Benefits Convention, 1964 (No. 121), the ILO through the provision of its advice was able to ensure that the amounts paid to the victims was raised to a level more in line with C.121 RBSA funding has contributed to supporting this work and to the achievement of the reported results
