Outcome summary

The experts committee at the National Organization for Social Insurance was formed

Outcome achieved

In June 2021, as a requirement under the social insurance and pension law of 2019, and to ensure its successful implementation and better financial governance and planning for the social insurance system, the “experts committee at the National Organization for Social Insurance” was formed. The merge of the two pension funds (GSIF and PSIF) has been implemented since February of 2021 according to the new social insurance and pension law and started in some governorates including Sharkia and Cairo to improve and enhance the consistency and sustainability of the social insurance system.

ILO's contribution to the outcome

Formation of the “experts committee at the National Organization for Social Insurance” according to the new law and build its capacity on actuarial work using the new ILO online pension model: In June and July 2021, the ILO organized a training to the experts committee and the actuarial team at NOSI on the new ILO online actuarial pension model and provided the participants with access to the online model to help them better understand the model and how it can be used for different actuarial work. ILO provided technical support for the administrative merge of the two pension funds through submitting a technical note regarding the administrative merge.
