International Ebola Recovery Conference, 9-10 July 2015

Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone have undertaken a remarkable effort to defeat the devastating Ebola outbreak. The affected countries have seen a significant decline in the number of new cases. Recovery must now be pursued as part of the goal of “getting to zero and staying at zero”.

Hosted by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, the International Ebola Recovery Conference was held in New-York (9-10 July 2015) in cooperation with the Governments of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, and in partnership with the African Union, the African Development Bank, the European Union and the World Bank, with the aim of drawing international attention on the need for targeted investments to support recovery priorities over a 24-months time frame.

The Conference was also the opportunity to discuss detailed country-based and regional anti-Ebola strategies. The discussions led to the increase of international support to the affected countries and region, and to concrete financial commitment to support these strategies.
