Ebola: Strengthening resilience through Social Protection
Ahead of the United Nations Secretary-General's International Ebola Recovery Conference (9-10 July 2015), the ILO organized a side event to address key priority areas of post-ebola recovery plans in the three affected countries.
The discussion highlighted the need for a minimum of social protection coverage and for an access to basic infrastructure services, in order to support the recovery of the world of work. The participants also underlined the need for the development of social security systems, the recovery of production systems with occupational safety and health as well as the implementation of universal health coverage.
The event, moderated by Anne Drouin, ILO Social Protection Specialist was preceding the United Nations Secretary General’s International Recovery Conference, also held in New-York on 9-10 July.
