ILO introduced international standard on social protection to Indonesia

As a part of UNIQLO Project, ILO conducted an introduction workshop at Aryaduta Hotel, Jakarta, on January 20-23, 2020, to provide overview of international standard on social protection and unemployment benefit. More than 40 key representatives from Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (an institution to manage social insurance for workers in Indonesia) attended this 4 days workshop. During the workshop, the participants were introduced to ILO convention no 102 which covers nine standard protection, and convention no 168 which specifically explains about protection againts unemployment and employment promotion. To provide technical illustration about unemployment benefits mechanism, ILO invited two representatives from JICA and Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to share good practises of such protection scheme in their country.

Objectives

  1. Understand the position of unemployment protection as a part of a comprehensive social security system
  2. Understand the ILO principles and standards on social security floor and unemployment protection
  3. Learn how these principles and standards are applied and implemented in comprehensive (un)employment insurance system of a acountry
  4. Envisage linkages between unemployment benefit, employment services (active labour market policy), and skills training in an effective (un)employment insurance system
  5. Able to provide inputs on promotion of a comprehensive (un)employment insurance system in Indonesia
