Capacity building on social protection among ASEAN workers' organizations

The ILO/Japan Project supports the development of capacity, understanding and information among ASEAN workers' organizations so they can play an active role in implemeting the ASEAN Declaration on Strengthening Social Protection and in policy decisions regarding the extension of social protection within their countries.

On 27-28 August 2014, the ASEAN Trade Unions and Workers' Organizations of 10 ASEAN countries met in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. They reviewed the ASEAN Declaration on Social Protection and its level of conformity with the international labour instruments related to social security, and adopted a joint Statement in which they commit to support its implementation and the extension of social protection in ASEAN.
