Summary (English)

The outcomes of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development - Rio+20 (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 20-22 june 2012) are compiled in this declaration. The Heads of State and Government and the high-level representatives gathered at the Conference agreed, among other issues, on the importance of supporting developing countries in their efforts to eradicate poverty, including the social protection floors. The leaders recognize that social protection systems that address and reduce inequality and social exclusion are essential for eradicating poverty and advancing the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. In this regard, the leaders strongly encourage initiatives aimed at enhancing social protection for all people.
