Summary (English)

Gives a brief overview of the social protection system in Rwanda and presents the legal system of social security, providing with further details on health insurance schemes (examples of civil servant and military sector schemes), community-based schemes and the private sector.
It also presents the legal framework that currently exists for the community-based mechanisms of social protection as well as for the informal sector.
Contractual arrangements with health care-providers and linkages between the existing schemes are also studied. Part of the study is dedicated to the Government will of improving quality of and access to health care, as well as to future perspectives.
