Extending maternity protection to women in the informal economy. An overview of community-based health-financing schemes
Summary (English)
This working paper tries to get a better understanding of the way community-based health-financing systems are attempting to meet the maternity care needs. It starts by classifying and analyzing 23 community-based health-financing schemes, all containing a maternity care component. The schemes discussed here come from three different regions in the world: Africa, Asia and Latin America and are described in more detail in the last part of the study. Following this analysis an overview is given of the types of maternity care covered by these community-based health-financing schemes.
