Extending the social protection floor in Myanmar: School Feeding

The Ministry of Education with the support of the World Food Programme (WFP) will begin  providing morning snacks to children in pre-and primary schools in the most food insecure areas in Myanmar. This intervention follows the food security assessments led by the WFP as well as the Assessment-Based National Dialogue facilitated by the ILO and UN Country Team which identified school feedings as a policy option to build a national social protection floor.  This recommendation is integrated into the National Social Protection Strategic Plan as one of the eight "flagship programmes".
