Linking the Social Protection Floor to Employment Interventions

Valerie Schmitt

Linking the Social Protection Floor to Employment Interventions (PowerPoint Presentation) outlines the ILO's strategy for the extension of social security, endorses at the ILC in June 2012, which is based on the social protection floor and progressively higher levels of benefits for greater numbers of people. The presentation discusses the approach as it relates to various country strategies, including Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia's national social protection strategies (NSPS). To avoid disincentives to work, the SPF and social protection should be linked to employment promoting interventions, encouraging a "virtuous cycle." Linkages at the delivery level include mechanisms like the Single Window Service, a method of service delivery that could be relevant for a number of countries.
