Mexico: Universal Pension will benefit one million of indigenous elderly people

The Universal Pension Act, recently approved by the Congress, will benefit more than 60 percent of people over 65 years of age, which represents approximately five million 300 thousand older people in Mexico currently without a pension, of which one million are indigenous people.

The monthly amount of the Universal Pension will be 580 pesos, but it will gradually rise each year, so that in a period of time no longer than 15 years the pension will be set at 1,092 pesos per month.
