Description
In the context of its Flagship programme on building social protection floors for all, the ILO contributed in 2016 to the finalization of the first social security law covering the private sector in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. As a follow-up to this achievement, this project aims at establishing a tripartite social security institution capable of implementing the new law, with a view to making the right of social protection a reality for more than three hundred thousand private workers in the territories. The project has three components. The first component is dedicated to building the capacity of the tripartite board of directors of the new social protection institution, focusing on client-centred services and business processes. The second component relates to the provision of the necessary equipment and services to set up the institution. The third component aims at the development of a national social protection floor initiative, to be endorsed by the Palestinian Authority and the social partners, reaching the population not covered by the social insurance scheme for the private sector.SDG
