Brazil: 9th National Conference of Social Assistance gathers 2800 participants

The 9th edition of the National Conference of Social Assistance took place in Brasilia, Brazil, from 16 to 19 December. The event gathers 2800 participants from all over the country to analyse, propose and approve guidelines for the management and financing of the Brazilian social assistance system (Sistema Único de Assistência Social, SUAS).

Discussions focus on six main topics: (1) mandatory co-financing of social assistance, (2) managing SUAS: planning, monitoring and evaluation of social assistance processes, (3) work management, (4) managing services, programmes and projects, (5) managing SUAS' benefits, (6) regionalisation.
