The ILO with financial support from the Governments of Belgium and Luxembourg and in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Service and Labour and the Rwanda Social Security Board, organised a workshop on unemployment protection from 10 to 12 October in Kigali.

The overall objective of the workshop was:

• to strengthen knowledge on key concepts and international experience related to unemployment protection;
• to collect views of all stakeholders related to key design elements of a potential unemployment protection programme;
• to identify next steps and additional needs for example in terms of feasibility studies, analytical work, legal drafting, actuarial valuations.
