RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE TRIPARTITE SEMINAR ON STRENGTHENING SOCIAL PROTECTION IN ASEAN
Summary
The tripartite constituents of the ASEAN Member States committed to work together towards the establishment of, at least, social protection floors and the progressive extension of social security for all, including workers of the informal economy. The delegates also agreed on a list of actions to expand social protection coverage, improve the governance of social protection schemes and coordination among ministries and with social partners, and develop a monitoring framework to measure progress in extending social protection in ASEAN. Representatives of workers and employers insisted that social protection will be successful only if its expansion relies on sound and effective social dialogue.
