Introducing Social Health Protection for the Garment Sector
Summary (English)
This document presents a new Health Insurance Project (HIP) co-managed by the textile employers' association (GMAC) and a French NGO (GRET) is being launched and may bring considerable progress towards social security in the field of health in Cambodia. This is a three-year program financed by AFD and covering work-related health risks of textile workers and their families, thus involving about a third of the Cambodian population. The HIP is an experimental programme aimed at creating the health branch of social security in Cambodia. Some staff members of the National Social Security Fund are to be integrated in the programme and the Ministry of Employment had agreed to give its cooperation.

Ce document présente un nouveau programme de d'assurance santé (HIP), co-géré par l'association des employeurs dans le champ textile (GMAC) et une ONG française (GRET) est sur le point d'être lancé et pourrait apporter des progrès considérables en matière de sécurité sociale en santé au Cambodge. Il s'agit d'un programme de trois ans financé par l'AFD et couvrant les risques sanitaires des travailleurs du textile et de leurs familles, ce qui implique environ un tiers de la population cambodgienne. Le HIP est un programme expérimental visant à la création de la branche santé de la sécurité sociale au Cambodge. Certains membres du personnel du Fond national de sécurité sociale (NSSF) doivent être intégrés dans le programme et le ministère de l'Emploi a décidé d'accorder sa coopération.
