Summary (French)

The government of India has drafted a legislation called the Unorganised Workers' Social Security Bill, due to be passed shortly, which will enable more of the country's 90 per cent of unorganized sector workers to move into the organized work force. In this context, this study presents case studies on various types of social protection schemes introduced at the national or state level in order to examine the extent to which schemes have reached their target communities and to analyze the redistributive content of the schemes.
