Summary (English)

This report details several recent socio-economic trends in South Africa.  It focuses on growth, employment and government actions to stimulate development.  South Africa has recently revamped its social protection scheme increasing expenditures for the poor, including direct food relief, access to free basic services, such as water and electricity, and an extension of the Child Support Grant to age 18.
