Summary (English)

This study gives a background on the Philippines describing its demography, government and economy, the present health care system and the labour force and the informal economy. Then it discusses the different statutory and community-based social protection schemes describing their membership coverage, financing mechanisms, benefit packages and developments over the last decade. Section 3 describes the existing linkages between statutory and community-based schemes focusing on experiences during implementation and on its strengths and weaknesses. And section 4 focuses on the findings of identified schemes from which most of the recommendations and suggestions for improvements are based on.
