Summary (English)

This report focuses on how social protection can be used to mitigate – and, whenever possible, eliminate – food insecurity and hunger for households and individuals. This report therefore aims to serve two functions. It provides an evidence-based review of social protection interventions that have food security outcomes or intentions. Second, it supports efforts to frame social protection for food security in the context of international norms, principles and procedures for human rights, especially the rights to adequate food and to be free from hunger and the right to social security as part of economic, social and cultural rights.
