Summary (English)

The Dhaka Declaration presents a set of overeaching and thematic recommendations which resulted from the Global Consultation on Population Dynamics and the Post-2015 Development agenda. In the Declaration, adopted at the Global Leadership Meeting, in Dhaka, the Ministers and representatives of the participating countries state that population dynamics affect economic development, employment, income distribution, poverty, social protection and pensions, urging countries to address and integrate population dynamics into the post-2015 development agenda. The recommendations follow the outcome document of the Global Thematic Consultation on Population Dynamics and the Post-2015 Development Agenda.

The Global Leadership Meeting was hosted jointly by the governments of Bangladesh and Switzerland with the collaboration UNFPA, UNDESA, UN-Habitat and IOM from 12-13 March 2013 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The meeting concluded the Global Consultation on Population Dynamics and the Post-2015 Development agenda, which intends to find a new development agenda after the target date of the Millenium Development Goals.
