Summary (English)
The first part of the module presents the notion of risk giving emphasis to sickness-risk and explains why workers in the informal economy are more vulnerable. Then it describes the various ways adopted by individuals in coping with these risks and introduces health micro-insurance scheme as a tool for extending social protection (definition, key principles and approaches, basic elements such as organizational structures, categories of beneficiaries, type of services offered, etc.).
