Out-of-pocket health expenditure in Latin America and the Caribbean: The efficiency rationale for extending social protection in health
Summary (English)
The extension of social protection in health to excluded persons is not only justified on the grounds of equity. It is likely to increase the efficiency of health expenses in households. This paper aims to analyse, from a theoretical point of view, the different ways in which social protection contributes to efficiency.
