Summary (English)

How do the many people who work in informal employment get access to measures of social protection that will enable them to build more security for themselves and for their children? Given the current tendency for more and more people to be employed under insecure arrangements, in international chains of production and distribution, how can ladders of protection be built so that workers can claim or reclaim greater security and increased protection against risk? These questions were addressed in a research initiative done by the International Labour Organization, the global network WIEGO (Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing) and the World Bank.
