Webinar - Derecho a la seguridad social en las constituciones del mundo: Ampliando el espacio moral y legal para la justicia social. Edición América Latina - 5 October 2023

The event sought to raise awareness of the importance of international law and constitutional principles in the design, implementation and reform of rights-based social protection systems, took stock of the progress made in social security in Latin American countries and the main challenges to ensure that everyone has access to this human right. The event brought together national and international experts in a virtual panel discussion that reflected on the role of constitutional provisions on social security in establishing the regulatory frameworks and institutions necessary to ensure the practical realisation of this human right in the region.

The webinar also served as an occasion to launch the ILO publication "The right to social security in the constitutions of the world: Broadening the moral and legal space for social justice", Latin America volume, which brings together valuable contributions from academics, government officials and social security experts from the region embodied in 18 country articles analysing the treatment of the human right to social security in the constitutions and national legal systems of Argentina, the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The session was delivered entirely in Spanish.
