ILO, Action/Portugal

In Dili, Timor-Leste, the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Social Protection Department conducted a series of capacity-building activities from 11 to 13 March 2024. The primary objective was to enhance the capacities of tripartite constituents concerning international social security standards.

At the core of the workshop was the presentation of preliminary findings from a comparative report. This report evaluated Timor-Leste's social security legislation against the mandates and principles set out in the Social Security (Minimum Standards) Convention, 1952 (No. 102).

The tripartite validation workshop convened government officials, employers' and workers’ representatives. Together, they endorsed the primary conclusions drawn from the preliminary report. Additionally, a strategic roadmap was outlined to facilitate the ratification and effective implementation of Convention No. 102 within Timor-Leste.
