Special Training on Capacity Development in Social Protection

CARD-SPCU, in collaboration with ILO, is organising a Special Training on “Capacity Development in Social Protection” in Bangkok between 3-5 April 2012.

During February and March 2012, the Social Protection Coordination Unit of CARD had initiated the discussion with ILO and UNICEF on the possibility to have a comprehensive and special training for the designated “Inter-Ministerial Social Protection Taskforce”. This tailored training aims at developing a common understanding on social protection among participants, and it is expected that the participants will be able to fulfil the following tasks upon completing the training:

  • Jointly review and co-develop the Training Handbook for social protection which will be used later on for social protection training at sub-national level
  • Promote an in-depth understanding of the design parameters, costing of specific social protection intervention and fiscal space analysis
  • Enable the participants, in particularly, to provide a more comprehensive comments on the current design of Cash Transfer Operational Research
  • Develop the capacity to assist with CARD-SPCU in delivering the further training on social protection at sub-national level

The training venue will be co-facilitated by CARD, UNICEF, and ILO and will take place in the United Nations Building in Bangkok, Thailand. Key speakers, not limited only to the regional specialists from ILO and UNICEF in Bangkok, will be invited from UNESCAP and CARD. It is expected that choosing Bangkok as the venue of this training, will not only enable the contribution from key specialists and resource persons at regional level, but also provide the more concentrated atmosphere for Cambodian participants (from selected line ministries, SPCU, ILO, and UNICEF) to interact with each other on designing the step forward for NSPS implementation.
