The main objectives are

• to to provide an overview of national social protection systems: what schemes / programmes exist at the national level and what benefits are provided to which groups of the population?
• Structure the quantitative information which will assess both the national investment in social protection and the extent and level of coverage of the population (and specific sub-groups
• Understand the national social protection system as part of the broader context: demographic, economic and social (including labour market structure, share of informal employment, etc)

What type of information should be collected for a overview of national social protection systems?

What criteria can be used to define social protection programmes / schemes?

How to define benefits to allow the classification of all types of existing benefits?
