2nd National dialogue on social protection, policy options and scenarios, June 18-20 2014

A second national dialogue workshop on social protection took place on June 18-20th in Nay Pyi Taw.  During this workshop the recommendations from the first national dialogue workshop held March 24-26th, were converted into policy options and concrete scenarios. The last half day was dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the identified scenarios.

This workshop is part of a social protection Assessment-Based National Dialogue (ABND) exercise aiming at provide technical inputs, which arose from wide consultations, for the extension of social protection and the progressive implementation of a national social protection floor. This will support the formulation of Myanmar’s national social protection strategy by the national technical working group on social protection chaired by the Ministry of Social Welfare and UNICEF.

A third national dialogue will take place in September, 2014.
