Note
The 2nd African Decent Work Symposium on “Building a Social Protection Floor with the Global Jobs Pact” was held from October 6 to 8, 2010 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The Symposium hosted African Ministers and representatives of employers and workers in Africa as well as representatives from UN agencies, the Pan-African Parliament, the UN Economic Commission for Africa, the African Development Bank, Regional Economic Communities, World Bank, IMF, donors and NGOs engaged in social protection policy formulation.
The conference aimed at promoting employment and protecting people through the implementation of effective national social protection floors as important tools in fighting poverty, investing in socio-economic development and consolidating the economic recovery process on the continent. As a result, a declaration has been adopted.
