Within National Social Protection Strategies

As part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the extension of social health protection contributes to two complementary targets on universal health coverage (SDG 3.8) and universal social protection systems, including floors (SDG 1.3). Particularly, a social protection floor is a nationally defined set of basic social security guarantees, that aims to prevent or alleviate poverty, vulnerability, and social exclusion. Access to essential health care, including maternity care, at a nationally defined minimum level that meets the criteria of availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality should be the center.
