ILO World Social Protection Database (WSPDB)
The ILO World Social Protection Database (WSPDB) became the main source of global data on social protection, used daily by policy makers, officials of international organizations and researchers. The objective of the WSPD is to collect, store and disseminate comparable statistical data on social security worldwide. Data compilation on social protection is mainly driven by the administrative data received from the governments through SSI questionnaire. In addition to these data, the department is establishing agreements with other agencies to receive complimentary information.
In order to enhance the national capacity to generate comprehensive and reliable social protection data, Social Protection Department has been providing technical assistance and trainings to the ILO constituent members, in collaboration with ILO field offices and other departments and UN agencies.
After the administrative data are validated, SDG indicators and others are computed. All the information is stored in the World Social Protection Database, which is constantly exchanging data with ILOSTAT database.
Timely, reliable, accurate and comparable data are crucial for the formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of social protection policies and programs at national and global levels.
The latest methods, dataset and reports on social protection statistics, the results of impact assessments and applications of other tools are available at: WSPDB.action?id=41
